This comes as slightly surprising news. A recent poll conducted by a large technology solutions provider shows that Vista may not be as unpopular in the business market as once thought. CDW corporation surveyed 772 IT decision makers and Vista adoption is gaining traction in the mainstream business market.

In fact the data shows that since the previous survey that was done in early 2007 shows that Vista adoption has gone from 29% to 49%. That includes all stages of Vista deployment from evaluation to testing so it may not have been deployed company-wide for the whole 49%.

Actual Vista adoptions number 35% which represents either a complete adoption or entering the final stages of a roll out.

Among those that have fully complete the transition nearly half rank Vista’s improved security, performance and user productivity.

Though it has been shown that Vista isn’t any faster than XP when run on comparable hardware and in fact may be slightly slower. There are also concerns that it may decrease user productivity because apparently, some people just like sitting there and staring at the Aero Glass effects or playing with the SideBar.

Office 2007 adoption was also up to 24% with another 23% planning to upgrade in the next year. Vista may not be in the dire straights we once thought it was.
