In this tutorial we will explain you how to use another application that has been changed in Windows Vista: the Disk Defragmenter. In the new OS Microsoft offers two options: Defragment now and Modify schedule .

To open the Disk Defragmenter you must go to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and select it like we did in the picture below.

Now you will be able to see the two applications we were talking earlier. To maximize the picture below simply click on it.

If you will press the Defragment now button the system will start the process. Due to the fact that Vista does not have a progress bar or something to show you how long the defragmentation process will take, we recommend you to do this at night when nobody uses the computer.

If you want to stop the process simply click Cancel Defragmentation like in the picture below.

If you want to you can select the other option: Modify Schedule. This tool will help you to schedule automatic defragmentations so that you can organize your time better.

Hope you like this tutorial…stay tuned, more tutorials will come!
