Over the past few months, Windows 7 has become the focal point of Microsoft’s message. The company has spent time discussing how it arrived at “7″ and why it will be the next great operating system from the software giant. In the meantime, the company has spent considerable time releasing ads to discuss Windows and PCs, but hasn’t done enough to talk about the benefits of owning Vista. But every chance it gets, Microsoft tells the world why we should all wait and see what will happen with Windows 7.
It may have arrived a bit sooner than originally expected, but I doubt anyone is complaining. Service Pack 2 build v6002-16497 (compiled October 17) for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 has been posted for testers on Microsoft Connect. The five languages currently supported are English, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese, in both 32- and 64-bit flavors. Early reports indicate that performance has been improved yet again with this service pack.

Microsoft on Tuesday took the wraps off the next version of its operating system, Windows 7, which the company hopes will have a smoother introduction than its predecessor, Windows Vista. While Microsoft has sold more than 180 million copies of Vista, perceptions of it continue to be defined by its bumpy start in 2007.Windows 7’s features will simplify tasks that often irk computer users, the company said.
Microsoft on Tuesday for the first time publicly demonstrated Windows 7, the next major release of its OS for PCs that Microsoft insists will reflect lessons learned from the widely panned Windows Vista. Microsoft also laid out a road map for the release of Windows 7 and handed out a pre-beta version to developers at the Professional Developers Conference (PDC), where it also demonstrated new features in a keynote address Tuesday.
